A contemporary neoclassical interior commission for Duddingston House in Edinburgh, the Category A listed Palladian house designed by Sir William Chambers in 1760 and built from 1763 to 1768. Luxxe Interiors' scheme brings custom lighting, expressive marble and tailored furniture into the historic architecture.
The story
Every detail, considered.
Working inside a Category A listed building means the interior has to be added rather than imposed. The decorative mouldings, the symmetry of each room composition and the restrained ivory upholstery all defer to what was already there.
Pale marble and custom crystal and brass lighting are where the contemporary hand shows. They are new pieces, clearly new, made to a standard that lets them sit in eighteenth-century rooms without pretending to be original to them.
